The Chambre syndicale des généalogistes et héraldistes de France is a professional association whose objective is to group professional genealogists in order to represent the interests of the profession, at the same time offering guarantees to their clients.

Registered on March 18th 1980 at the Préfecture de la Seine, it associates a large number of members organised in a network, thus enabling a wide geographical cover. Having its own code of ethics since 1995 and its own precise regulations, its members undertake to uphold the following rules concerning their clients :

•  to do everything possible to achieve the required result ; however they are only bound to succeed in accessing the necessary documents, they cannot always guarantee achieving the final result.

•  to respect professional confidentiality ; they benefit from special dispensations granted by legal authorities enabling them to complete their research.

•  to honour the contract signed with their clients.

•  to submit to the arbitration of the CSGHF in the event of dispute.
